MY TANK

Just wanted to share my daily driver with everyone .1971 W-200 short box . Its got a 426 wedge , 727 auto , on board air system , powersteering , power disc brakes , 3/4 ton axles w/lockers front and rear . All built from a bare frame heading to the crusher . Its name is TANK , and thats my 67 coronet R/T named MAX on the trailer Thanks Andy

Nice rigs! I like your steering setup,but if it were me ,I'd have some fender washers on those hiem joints.

Whats that thing like to steer, is it like driving a forklift, not much feedback? Do you constantly have to chase the wheel steering it? If it works, cool setup. I have seen guys with something similar, but it was on a monster truck, and they had a diff valve to control it, looks like you used the factory controller.

I overlooked the steering earlier. Looks like the factory setup, with the exception of an upgraded cylinder and drag link.
Is the valve stock? The drag link looks interesting, is it a universal part? My 71 has the factory components, but they
are serious need of some service.

It works great even with the 35x12.50 tires . If you keep a slight downward angle to the drag link you have no bump steer . First time I used a 2wd steer arm to keep it level and that was a mistake ,it was all over the road . And I stop going through steering boxes like doughnuts .

Why fender washers ? I drilled and welded chromolly ( i think i spelled that wrong ) bungs in the spindles @ steer arms and used grade 9 hdw .Just curious .

Yes valve is stock , pump also ( not too much psi ) I was tired of wearing out stock drag links so I made one w/ heim joint , very strong easy to find and replace . Since I run 35 inch tires the tie rod sockets dont last and expensive . Dont buy cheap heims though they wont last either . H&M bearing sells good heims . The agr ram was built better than stock and easy to get parts for if needed so I went with that .

I will take some more detailed pictures I am not much of a photographer as you can see . I own and run a suspension and alignment shop with my wife and am just learning how to upload and down load pics ( didnt even care what that meant not long ago ) I am glad there are so many gear heads out there like me , that like real trucks . What do you have in the R/T ? I will be glad to give you a detailed list of parts I used that worked . Its been trail tested for over 2 years now and only replaced one heim joint at ram , only because the one supplied was a cheapy .

Its kind of a belt and suspenders deal. A washer, bigger than the hiem socket, under the head of the bolt will catch the socket if it wallows out and pops off. You really do have a cool truck there.
