1963 d100 Cummins
Found this beauty on Craigslist. Guy wants 4300. Has a 12 valve Cummins and nv4500 5 speed. I'm scraping together money now...

Re: 1963 d100 Cummins
The current owner was not able to find room to put the intercooler in the truck....so he made it non-intercooled. Do you guys think you could squeeze in a intercooler behind the grill?

I'd have to see the intercooler but I would imagine you could fit it somewhere....

Re: 1963 d100 Cummins
Looks like plenty of room for a first gen dodge intercooler if you're good with a welder, have some fab skills and aren't afraid to do some hefty cutting. Something needs to be done tho- that curly-q pipe between the crossover tube and turbo is plain goofy looking....

Re: 1963 d100 Cummins
The more I see 6BT Cummins engines in Swepties, the more I think I'd go with a 4BT, instead...WITH an intercooler from a 6BT. It's just a cleaner installation overall, plus the same mods can be applied to the 4BT as can the 6BT engines.
Still, this truck looks pretty decent in the pics. Like what was mentioned, you need to do some creative cutting and welding to install the intercooler in this truck.

Re: 1963 d100 Cummins
The intercooler is absolutely unnecessary in the 100/200s. My 6BT doesn't have one, it fits perfectly, my firewall is uncut and I can accelerate to 90 up the hella steep grades around here, in 5th OD, even with a trailer!
4BT with an intercooler is way less poop than a 6BT without.

But, the same mods can be done with that 4BT. Less space, less weight, and as long as my towing needs stay under 10K#, it would do the job just fine.
My International Travelall with the Perkins 6.354T engine also did not have an intercooler, and had the same horsepower and torque ratings as an '89 - '91 Cummins w/o intercooler. It pulled OK, but an intercooler would've helped that truck immensely.

I'll bet a 6BT puts a D100 front axle over it's weight rating.
