im in dire need of some springs for my 64...the ones on my truck are plain worn out and my truck has a serious lean to the left side...most of my budget has been spent on the motor and trans build so im looking for something on the cheap. anyone know if there are other vehicles' leaf springs will fit on our trucks?
thanks in advance!!!!

The springs from a '61 through '71 D100 would work for you. You might
check around your area to see if there's a spring shop that could re-arch
your springs.

Two friendly suggestions here....makgreens wrote:IM going to be flipping the axle and putting all the springs back in...how many were in the front and rear packs? i have a stack of leafs and cant remember how many go to each

1)Slow down. You should spend some time and effort reading up on altering
a truck's suspension. There is plenty of information here to review. There
are different approaches..... some seem to work..... others lead to complications.
2)Use the "SEARCH" feature of this site.

threads.
After your post regarding current available funds, I'll "assume" that there's not
much $$ to begin a major suspension modification. Doing it on the cheap may
get you into more trouble and expense..... not to mention putting yourself, any
passengers and other motorists in danger should you encounter a catastrophic
steering/suspension failure. Look at some YouTube videos of "Bump Steer" and
"Death Wobble"..... kind of scary.....

potentially dangerous steering geometry in with worn out springs, spring bushings,
worn tie rod ends, worn king pins and an out of spec steering box.... you might not
believe what happens next...... even while its happening....

Re: NEED NEW SPRINGS ASAP
Well its been lowered for 2 years and for the first 6 months of that time I drove it daily. I've flipped axles before on newer vehicles so I'm not unfamiliar with it just cant remember the number of leafs in each pack. It currently has 4" blocks and atleast 2 or 3 leafs taken out...remember I did this 2 years ago and have slept alot since then.
When I worked at a shop and did alignments and so on I was educated the hard way on bumpsteer and the death wobble because I had a truck on hydraulics and the geometry was god awful! Granted everything i worked on there was newer. Axle flips are easy and setting the angle isnt hard just have to measure alot.
I'm also installing a drop axle, new tie rods, new king pins and new shocks all the way around...and air lifts slam air in the rear so I can carry a load still
I sold a few guns so I was able to come up with more money for suspension :)
Getting the springs rearched...forgot that part...but I'm also looking into seeing about springs from an 80's truck...buddy has one hes parting so I was going to go measure tomorrow
