The Craigslist ad was posted to facebook. One owner truck, D 200, 4 speed with granny gear, 147 or 157K(?) miles, used to have a camper in the back, PO made the mirrors and rear bumper, had a light foot by his son's account, pretty clean & straight, no serious rust (fingers crossed), garage kept every night it was home. Will be heading to Houston soon.

It's the 318. I think that'll be the LA. PO's son isn't sure.

It looks too original for an engine swap but you never know. It would have come with a Poly.

PO's son is not camera/computer skilled, or I would try to get a lot more pictures to tide me over until delivery. Don't know everything I should probably know about this one yet, but I was blinded by the prospect of rust free rockers and steps.

Looks great, I remember seeing the add for it.

If you aren't interested in the CA black plates they might be worth a few hundred bucks (they need to clear CA DMV system first).

those are from TX.

i run the year of manufacture tags on my truck. i wonder if the first numeral, in this case "4", means the same thing as it means in Florida. the 4 denotes Pinellas County in FL and other numbers denote other counties. the lower the number = the higher the population count.

Does anyone know the process for getting them cleared for re-registration? On ebay right now it looks like a matched set of decent plates could go for $150 - 200.

I paid $200 for a pair of used plates in fair condition. One is nice and the other has some dents/creases and rust but still usable. The guy threw in a correct 1966 year sticker which CA requires (normally $40-50 extra). This was a decent deal as I have seen similar for up to $300 or even more in better condition.

They must be a matching pair and in fair or better condition. They must be clear in the CA system, meaning that the number isn't currently assigned to anyone else. You can call the CA DMV during business hours and they will tell you if they are clear or not. They also must be the correct series for what you plan to put them on. There are truck plates and car plates distinguished by the sequence and order of the numbers vs letters.

These particular plates, having been on a truck in CA that seems to have been currently registered might not show as clear in the system which lowers the value, maybe $20-50 as artwork only. You may have to wait till they drop off the CA system, or provide some type of evidence that the truck has been registered in TX in order to clear them.

The pictures are still on craigslist and it shows a Blue/Turquoise Poly 318.

Correct you are! Thanks for the heads up. I missed this one first time around, then the link indicated a deleted posting, and the seller only sent me the 3 pics above.
