A small problem with 8.75 rear end

Post by w22 »

A couple weeks ago I changed the fluid in my 64d100 rear end, One of the seals is not properly working and it is leaking rear end oil from the right rear. Is there a way to pull the axle out and not let the little thrust pins fall out of the center section? I was hoping somebody had a little trick for this job so The center section wont have to come out.
Thanks, Dillon

Just pull the axle. The thrust pin will stay in the sure grip.

The first time I pulled them, they were stuck to the axles, I dont want it to happen like that again

I replaced my axle shaft seals recently with minimal hassle. Just removed the bolts on the flange plate and yanked the shafts out. My 8.75 is out of a 1968, without the difficult tapered shafts apperently, what year is yours out of?

Its a 64' 3.91 ratio. I replaced seals a couple weeks ago but one of them is leaking. I have to pull one axle to replace it, and im afraid the thrust spacer will cme with the axle like it did the first time... If this happens the other axle and center section has to come out to put back in
