64' d200 rear brakes

Post by Hemicss »

I rebuilt the front wheel cylinders, converted to a dual master, ran new lines and distribution block, and thought it would be wise to check the rears. Well the drivers side had a leaky wheel cylinder, so I got 2 kits to rebuild those as well. Did the drivers side just fine after I figured out how to get the d60 full floater axle apart. Get to the pass.side and the shoes were caked/soaked/impregnated with diff fluid and brake fluid. So here's where my cluster starts.....autozone has new shoes for 21 bucks, no core charge, Sweet!! Go and get them, come home, find out the are 12x2 and not 12x2.5. After searching the net, I come across some shoes, 12x2.5......Saweet!! The downer is/was that they are for a 98 F250, but they are dead on like the soaked/contaminated shoes that have to go. So if anyone has this dilemma in the future, hope this will help......also, they were .97 cents more and no core charge!!

If I remember the shoes should be 12 x 2. Front and rear. The drum would be 2.5 deep. Should be no different than my 66 W100 Dana 60. I f 2.5 shoes fit. Great

My dad thought that they should be a 2 inch also, but I got what was on there to match. Now you've given me something to think about, will have to pull the fronts off again to double check......thanks!!
