Another FNG with a Swepty
Another FNG with a Swepty
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right board, but I wanted to introduce my self real quick. My name's Doug, I'm from Anchorage AK, and I'm the proud owner of a 'new' '64 D200 with the 318 poly! I bought it a little under a month ago, and I've been working to get it back on the road ever since. It ran and drove off the lot (sort of), but I've had to replace about every gasket and seal in the engine, get new exhaust manifolds and pipes, and chase a metric sh*t ton of gremlins out of the electrical system. But I'm getting close to done, and hopefully I'll have her up and running soon.
Anyway, I've always wanted to have a classic MOPAR for a daily driver and I'm a truck guy, so the D200 is a perfect fit! I'm really looking forward to getting this rig restored and running like a top. I'll probably spend more time lurking and learning at first, but hopefully I'll be able to pitch in here and there.
Here's a pic of my new ride right after I bought it. I'll post a pic of the work I've done so far once I'm finished.

Welcome! Nice rig man. The little stuff never ends, but I drive mine everyday to work and it's the best thing I've done for myself in decades. 3 or 4 sd trans? Pushbutton auto? Any more info you can give makes it more fun for us. Have a good time with it.

I've got four on the floor, it's nice and torque-y. Hate to say it, but I haven't gotten to poking at the trans or the differential gear yet. It's pretty strong though, when I was driving it went into gear every time with no complaints. I just got the engine all put back together, here's the "after" pic. Wish I had a decent "before" pic. It wasn't pretty. These 318s are TOUGH though. I was checking out the cylinders after I got the heads and the pan off, I could still see cross hatching! For a rig that's twenty years older than I am, that's pretty good!

Hey! Way to go! I'll keep an eye out for bits & pieces. Nice thing about Alaska, stuff doesn't rust out near as fast.

Scrawltrawler and Spdcrazy, thanks for the info! I'll have to look into this guy in Kenai as I'll need a new tailgate sooner or later. Anyway, if I find anything in Anchorage I'll keep you guys posted as well.
