Brake Hose RH 1979-82 Chevy G10 Van 36956 BH36956
Banjo Bolt 1994-98 Dodge D250 w/7500 GVW 82703 DORMAN Part # 13940

Here are the instructions Scarebird sent me:

Just got an email back from Scarebird and they sent me the instructions on the D200 install. The brackets are part (SNW) $185.
Sorry about the formatting.

1958-71 Dodge 3/4 ton Pickup w/2800lb axle Front Disc brake conversion
1. Crack front wheel nuts loose, chock up rear wheels. Jack up front end of car, support outer control arms with jackstands. Remove front wheels, drum/hub assembly. Put a few drops of penetrant oil, such as AeroKroil on brakeline nuts where they screw into rubber lines.
2. Take drum/hub assembly and remove drum by using a swedge cutter on the base of the studs, then pressing out and discard studs. Clean off wheel surface and register with wire wheel or beadblaster. Machine outer edge of hub flange to fit inside rotor with about 0.010” loose fit. This is important, as it is what centers the rotor on the hub. Replace studs with ¼” longer or more studs. Mopar used several different suppliers for the drums, and they had 3 different sized studs. Dorman 610-103 is one. Best approach is to use an ARP or Moser stud and cut down to length. We used Raybestos #6249B or NAPA 641-3115.
3. Disconnect brake flexible line at frame by unscrewing hardline nut with flare wrench, then removing nut. Undo and remove drum retaining bolts. Remove drum backing plate, hose and all drum hardware in one assembly. Clean off spindle assembly well.
4. Place adapter plate over spindle with caliper bolt retaining nut welds facing inward, and caliper opening to the rear. Make sure no dirt is lodged between spindle and plate.
5. Verify that rotor lays flat against hub by fitting rotor backwards onto hub. If the stud knurls interfere with rotor, countersink stud holes in rotor to clear knurls.
6. Clean and repack wheel bearings. Install new seal. Assemble hub onto spindle, tighten outer nut to spec, then secure with keeper, new cotter pin and dustcap.
7. Place rotor onto hub, and run two or three lugnuts down finger tight to retain rotor. Wipe down rotor with alcohol, lacquer thinner or other cleaner.
8. Wash hands! Rotor must be squeaky clean.
9. Slide assembly into caliper bracket. Make sure bleed nipple faces up. We recommend buying loaded calipers, but if buying pads separately use caliper application below. Tighten caliper bolts to 35 foot-pounds. Check fitment and rotate rotor to check clearance. Install flex lines.
10. Master cylinder and proportioning valve specs are quite varied. I would recommend 1972 D/W 200 or similar disc master cylinder for best performance match available in both power and manual flavors. Plumb in an adjustable proportion valve in the line going to the rear cylinders, or use a disc proportioning valve if rears suffer from excessive lockup in panic stops.
11. Bench bleed disc master cylinder. Mount MC on car, then gravity bleed entire system first to eliminate most of the air, then pump bleed and test, otherwise your distribution block may jam from a pressure imbalance.
12. Replace wheels, install lug nuts, lower car and torque nuts to spec. Test drive carefully- no hard stops, a series of 30 smooth stops from 30 mph, with a 30 second cooling period between stops will bed in the pads properly. Let cool for an hour after finished bedding.

thanks,
i just did the rears - from start to finish... brake fluid, new lines, calipers, rotors, hoses, etc. it cost me about $600.

the calipers are the biggest expense.

front change over was cheaper at about $500 but i did that about 6 years ago using the AAJ kit.

I am familiar with doing brake jobs on disc brakes but havent touched/looked at drum brakes in over 10 years.

aside form parts you mentioned above,

what else do you need to switch from drum to disc?

thanks,

A brake booster if you prefer power brakes. Match it to your donor master cylinder.

Did you use a proportion valve? which one?
I'm looking at trying to get this done inside the next month if I can collect all the parts first.

Thanks,

Alan

i have a wilwood adjustable on mine but running disc front and rear i probably don't need it.

if you are running drum on the rear you will for sure need a valve.

Good eye. No, I did not. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think this may have been discussed here already, but they list the 3/4 ton as a D100 on the Scarebird site:

https://scarebird.com/index.php?route=p ... uct_id=119

I recall emailing them about it in the past, but I don't recall the answer.

DOOD: Any idea is the same parts list you posted applicable to D100? I'm assuming not but figured I'd ask. Seen part numbers posted here and there throughout the site.

No, the D100 is the 5 lug and the parts set is different. Here is an older list from Mr. Scarebird himself: Re: front disc brake conversion for 61-71 D100

This is a complete list with the Scarebird instructions: Re: 65 d100 disc brake conversion (Front Brakes) only
