318 Poly Heads 1962-1965

Post by 63Dino »

I have a 63 Sweptline with a 318 Poly. What other 318 Poly heads will interchange with this motor? I understand that only 1962-1965 will work due to water jacket changes on earlier years, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, my rocker arms are trashed and are impossible to find, so i'm looking for another set of heads to use. Any help or knowledge is greatly appreciated. I'm in the DFW area and I have exhausted my sources.
Thanks!!

Might try contacting Gary Pavlovich on the 318poly@yahoogroups.com site. He is a great guy and resource. Chris.

I sold a set of 57/58 heads to a guy a few years ago for cores and he told me 57/58 318 to 66/67 would fit. That's all I can help with. But I could be wrong.

Sir

Yelp - All 1962 to 1966 A-318 Heads fit each other with out any worries be it car to car, truck to truck
or Car/ Truck to Truck/ Car.

The Oil Pump also swaps the same way but now you can add The LA-273, The LA-318, The LA-340 and The LA-360.

The Rods are even the same spec's as used on the later 8.0 Liter MoPar V-10's.

Me Thinks you have a good engine - after you change the Heads and related parts.

Many thanks to ALL for sharing information. After the machine shop got the rocker arms separated from the rocker shaft and examined them, they think they can salvage the rocker arms via re-dressing the tips. All the other parts to rebuild the heads and install hardened seats are available. Since i had some bend push rods and a few valves were siezed, i wonder if it would be wise to replace the lifters?
