What years?
What years?
What years will the beds fit? I only know, the newer stuff. Like, I know a 1972 will fit a 1980 and a 1983 will fit a 1993. But, I am totally ignorant to the 60's stuff. I am interested, because I have a line on a bed not terribly far from me.
I posted this in the for sale section too. I hope this is OK. How much is too much for something like this?

Re: What years?
61-65.5 four headlight. 65.5-71 2 headlight. Based on wheel base differences between early to later models. So four headlight fits four headlight, 2 headlight fits two headlight.
Front fenders are interchangeable 61-71. 69-71 hoods actually fit 68-71.
It gets more confusing when you start playing with doors and dash boards...

swb trucks are the same 61-71, so any short bed will swap with any yr.WD wrote:61-65.5 four headlight. 65.5-71 2 headlight. Based on wheel base differences between early to later models. So four headlight fits four headlight, 2 headlight fits two headlight.

Re: What years?
So, I don't own anything...yet. I want to buy a 65.5 to 67 crew cab and marry it with a long bed. Then pull the cab and bed off my '01 club cab long bed and replace it with the 65.5 to 67 crew cab long bed. So, I am in process of buying the body parts. Problem is, I know jack about Sweptlines. So, that's why I'm here. To learn from all of you fine folks...Hobcobble wrote: Let us all know the year of your Sweptline.![]()

Re: What years?
Potentially any bed will fit then. You would have to determine the wheelbase you want or the wheelbase of your frame, if you are keeping it stock. The wheelwells are in a different location on the 61-early 65 long beds than on the late 65-71 long beds. They are roughly the same length. It might be better to find the cab first or at least get measurements so you can determine where everything will fit on the frame.

Re: What years?
Sounds like good advice, on finding the cab first. I want to find at least a cab and chassis. I would like to title it as a 60's truck. Indiana allows you to use a retro plate on your car/truck of its year of manufacture (assuming, a fella can find one), which I would really like to do.soopernaut wrote:Potentially any bed will fit then. I am assuming, that I will have to stretch my frame, purely because of going from a club cab to a crew cab. Hopefully, the overhang of the bed isn't much different from what my '01 is, but I will definitely have to figure that out, so that the wheels are located correctly in the wheel wells. This is all stuff, that I hadn't thought of before. I have to figure out the same thing for the front wheels too. This is going to be a heck of a project for me.
Thanks for all the input.
Steve
