starter question

Post by theregularguy »

hey guys sry about all these questions. so a few years ago i was missin with the old girl and noticed my nose on my starter was broke in several peices. so i had it rebuilt. ever since i have had this starter in my truck. before it was even rebuilt. when you try and start it the starter would make a clunking noise. it would make the noise about every 5 or more turns. when it clunks you can feel it in the floor. its not a hard clunk. its not the clutch cause i just replaced that when i parked it. i have replaced everything i could think of to were the noise was coming from. yet i still have the noise. any ideas?

Have you checked the flywheel? Maybe you have a tooth thats buggard up or missing, causing the
starter to skip, but not bad enough to keep the engine from turning over.
If you stop in think, something must have banged up in that area to damage the nose
on the starter that much.
