Well sure. Do you want a 440 or not??? 79 might not be the best year for one, but it's still decent power.

wow, if the motor is good, not cracked and rebuildable, get it!!! 440s are getting more and more rare. 79 was the last year for the awesome 440. The fact that its motor home might be in your favor. Many years motor homes had better cooling potential due to water jacket differences. Do some research on this. Your 79 440 block can be made into a screamer with a few bolt ons. TAKE IT
I would!!

Be prepared to replace the water pump, timing cover and heads...the motorhome versions have a special water pump and timing cover, external coolant ports in the heads and most of sodium vapor filled valves...aside from that they're alright...just consider them a core motor that needs a rebuild...free is always good...

If it's a 440-3 it's well worth saving. Heavy duty service engine. They aren't screamers but the torque will surprise you. I've got a 413-3 in a motorhome here, I'd love to stuff it in my 69 D100 but the motorhome is one of 800...

I think you are talking about the 413. There are plenty of 440's used in motorhomes that are are same as in pickups.
