slant 6 to 318

Post by moonman »

i am in the process of acquiring an la318 from a 1970-71 (not quite sure of the year , very, very rusty), d500 box truck with 72k for free, to put in my 63 d200 which currently has a 225 slant 6 with a np435 4 speed my question is about the bellhousing, clutch combo, do i need the bellhousing off of the 318 which has a heavy duty 4 speed as well, not sure what kind, or will the 318 bolt to my slant 6 bellhousing, i thought i read some where that a poly 318 would bolt right up, but will an la318 bolt up, thanks donnie

I would take whatever I could get from the 70-71 but the LA-318 will bolt up to the bell house you have. Then you have to locate the small number spline count clutch if you need a new clutch.
It is a wet clutch I assume? (hydraulic)
The motor mounts too.

You will need a flywheel from an A or LA 318 Sweptline from the
hydraulic clutch years..... '62 through '68.
