new guy
Wanted to say hello to everyone, I am an old ARMY guy from San Antonio stationed in Afghanistan right now and have been looking for a Dodge pickup site for awhile, had some down time and here I am. I do have a question, I am bidding on a 1970 D100 Sweptline SWB on ebay and the price to sell is 5,300.00. Judging by the amount of experience here (I have been peekin at the site for a couple days) does this sound like it's to much? I am going to paste the info here for anyone to look at. Any help would be great!! It's an original SWB w/318 three speed auto 2wd Arizona truck. The bed is dented in pretty good and he put a spray in liner on it to help hide some of it (his words). Looking for a daily driver so my other (mopar) can stay in the garage. Do I run, or do I go for it?? Counting on your experience if ya don't mind. Again thanks for any feedback and looks to be a great site!

Re: new guy
Pretty nice looking ride....i think its too much but i am poor
Its all about what your comfortable with paying i guess......you can get a damn nice truck here off the forum from a member thats selling one or from the for sale non member section where people post craigslist finds and stuff like that for usually alot cheaper than that one, but the ones that usually pop up need work done to them. And my definition of damn nice is usually rust free and runs. Usually brake work, paint, and electrical work needs done on em even though i consider them nice.....ts tough to find a rust free one.

Re: new guy

NOTE: (I did not read the description, but I only looked at the photos quickly)
That being said, it does look like a NICE TRUCK.
Sorry if I just sounded like a politician...

Good Luck and stay safe over there!
Jim
Re: new guy
Looks nice in the photos (they always do). I've seen this truck listed several times on EPAY. Short box Sweptline trucks in good condition are hard to come by. Like Jim said, beware of rusty floor boards and rockers. Just for a point of reference, I have more than the asking price in paint and body work on my truck.
There's another you might consider but it's a long bed: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=Vie ... MEWAX%3AIT
Get home safe and thanks for enjoying the uniqueness of these trucks like we do. I can almost guarantee that you’ll be the only one at most car shows with a Sweptline.

Re: new guy
Thanks much gentlemen, good information and just proves I've come to the right place.
Re: new guy
mopardwh - MOS 35F40, In my younger days i was a ground sensor guy 96R10 - 30 (knee blowout in 07) but that went away with my age and recovery. Yup got a good friend in Southern AZ that will hold it for me. Figured i would get the brakes squared away before I got back. Gotta get on here a little more and figure out how to get some things back to stock / factory......If I get it. Either way it will be that or a newer than 70 pwr wagon. We will see in a couple days. Thanks again, ya'll enjoy your night!

be in nice shape. If your pal in AZ could get a real good look at the floorboards to make
sure they're decent, that would save you future agony. I'm in agreement with the other
folks here..... Its got a lot going for it. There's a fellow member, and fellow Army vet
by the board name "GreenMachine318" who did have a really nice '70 W100 long wheel
base POWER WAGON for sale somewhere in AZ, as I recall. I would have snagged it but
transport up to NY state was prohibitive. A long wheel base W100 [5 lug] is kind of a
rare truck.

The wife & I visited San Antonio last Fall

I'm sure most here would be happy to help out a soldier in need by being their eyes.
The second truck posted was in Colorado, I'll look a that one if you'd like me too.
Cheers & thank you for your service,
Cris

Re: new guy
I'd be a little concerned with the paint. It appears they painted it without removing the hood letters, mirror brackets and who knows what else.. Looks nice ,but I would want to inspect it before purchase. My
. Chris.
Also, what about the member in Califoria that had the clean lwb 440/727 listed here for $5k. He could not figure out how to post pictures.

Man now I wish i wasn't so impulsive, that is a nice truck, looks to be in great condition. I have a day and a half left on the e-bay thing, if I get outbid (I'm sure it will happen) That would definately be the way to go. Gotta shoot him a line and see if he still has it! Thanks for the heads up PwrWgnDrvr!!

His forum name is Paffuffnic in Corona CA. It's a '69 d100 lwb. Not sure if it still available. Re: new guy
Steve's Grandpa died about 8 yrs ago. He was the service mgr at a local Dodge dealer his whole life. This was his 2nd Swept he bought new, the first was a CSS. The truck was maintained beyond perfection. Steve inherited it and found the forums shortly thereafter. At first he thot he would sell it and I looked at it. I convinced him to keep it. He spent a ton of money replacing stuff that deteriorates with age. It has excellent new upholstery and carpet, shop built transmission with probably less than a thousand miles, valve job done last month, tons of upgrades, the sheetmetal has ZERO rot and about as perfectly straight as there is! The paint is about perfect except the hood and the roof where the sun has evaporated it. Some call that patina. Steve only drives it occasionally, mostly just for fun, not as a daily driver, so it does not have a ton of miles. Ive driven it a couple times and it is sweet! He is a middle aged guy so it has never been hacked up by inexperienced kids tinkering around or abusing it.Chris37 wrote:PwrWgnDrvr wrote:Here is a truck 10x better than the ebay truck:

It is a beautiful truck, I don't know if I would feel right using it as a D/D. I would want to park it in the garage with a cover, the bad part is it would be next to my 2010 Charger road and track that has a cover on it!! lol
