So I won the battle with the big piece of steel

I had this really thick piece of steel plate welded into the bed on my truck. I had to get it out to access the bolts holding the bed to the frame. I don't have the pics of me removing it with me, but just picture a guy using a grinder, longshoreman's crowbar, bottle jack, chisel, and hammer to bust it out. All in all it didn't hurt the bed too bad. Here's what it looks like under there

And here's another pic. I thought this was interesting, anyone out there know what this means about the wheels it came with?

Maybe it had 16" wheels on it originally.

It's a '63 d100 utiline. Originally government issue green with some kind of tank in the back. The original wheels were long gone it just came with 15" steelies up front and 15" mags in the back.

I have seen a couple of those ex forest service D100s with 17.5s painted body color. any have a parts manual to look up the number from the sert sticker?

I actually have 17.5x5.5" (white, not body color) wheels on my Power Wagon. This may be off topic but is there any hope in hell at all of getting new tires that will fit at all anywhere? I want to keep the wheels but the tires are shot.

Ouch, they sure don't come cheap. Seems like 215/75R17.5 is the tallest size available.

There are no 17.5 inch wheels in the parts book that have 5 holes. The SERT number is not a part number. It is possible that some had 17.5 inch wheels and that would be why they used a SERT number. It would have been a special order item and not listed as an option.

but the parts are not the same. the later book doesnt show the 6 hole 1ton rims for example so why would it show any 17.5 5 hole 1/2 ton rims. parts books usually only show for a couple years at a time..

That is a 63-68 book. I have a 69-71 but not a 61-62.
