brake lights are in my dash?
When I mash the brake pedal the two dash lights light up. They also flash with the turn signals when I use the emergency flashers. Of course there are no brake lights. What I have done recently is bypass the ammeter by simply splicing the two wires to it together. I also removed the headlight switch and put it back in. All the wires to it are run to the right place. I replaced the dimmer switch and thats it. I don't really know where to look. I just found it today and don't know if it was doing this when I bought it or is it something I caused. Could the headlight switch have a short? heres a link to my build thread viewtopic.php?f=34&t=28925&start=40 and here's the diagram....

Sounds like light fixtures aren't grounded. Your getting a feed back loop. Same thing happened to my 67 several years ago.

Could also be a problem in the turn signal switch. If you're not getting power to the brake light wires at the rear, it's definitely in the t/s switch, if you do have power back there, it's a ground issue as mentioned above.

Re: brake lights are in my dash?
ended up doing both, turn signal switch was bad (caused multiple other problems) but tail lights still didn't work, ground strap from bed to frame fixed that.
