Cummins guys: Build pics and info please!

Post by Lowdown »

To those of who have swapped in 6BTs, please post up pics of your swaps. If you haven't seen already, I'm having a set of custom frame mounts made but want to make sure I'm not wasting my time or money on this side project. I'd like to see what did you did the frame side mounts; either leaving them in the stock location or if you moved them for engine placement. I've seen those of you who have notched the firewall and those that didn't. Either way, I'd like to get all your knowledge and some pics in one thread.

I'll start. I've got a '90, non IC'd 6BT that I'm swapping into my '66 D200. I'm having these mounts below made to use along with a set of polybushing.com motor mounts:

Maybe to late but the 2nd generation mounts were improved over the older style mounts your using. They bolt right up too.

Mike, please post up some pics of what you mean. I'd really like to see how it fits together. Luckily it's not too late to pull the plug on my motor mount project. I'm definitely interested in something that is cheaper, better, and easier than the route I'm taking.

If that how you feal then walk away before you get started! A poor job hounts you for years to come, the pain and suffering of a quality job is quickly forgotten about.

These are the newer style mounts but there missing the rubber inserts.

I suspended my engine in place exactly were I wanted it then built the mounts to the frame. You need to fab a cross member between the two mounts also.

Don't have a picture of my engine cross member but it's simular to the tranny but it's bolted inside the frame rails. I'm sure if you search you can find lots of pics on this site.
