Color Combo

Post by Dustys66 »

For the 66 I originally wanted to do factory code red with a white roof, wheels, bumpers and grill. But lately ive been wondering about a cream color or off white to replace the white. Does anyone have opinions or pictures of trucks they have or seen or have? Ive been kinda wondering about Cub Cadet cream but i just dont know yet, i know its kinda far off from where im at but its just something on my mind.

Thanks for anything anyone can do!

Hadn't really thought about it before but the 06-09 Ram cream paint would really slick on a Sweptline. I say go for it. :Thumbsup

Cub Cadet beige is a dead ringer for a couple 30s-early 60s Dodge truck color names. I'm using it and old style Kubota orange on my Pilot House. If I ever repaint my Sweptline the factory white roof will likely be redone beige or a light pewter. I tend to lose the white roof in the parking lots in town.

I prefer Cream to Red. Would you then do a White roof and bumpers, etc.?

I must have read it too fast. I see you are going Red with either White or Cream.

Go for some shade of cream or a light gray. Basic boring white is just that...

How about adding something to the white? I've seen a really nice pearl white color on late model Caddys that really looks nice. Against a red with a pearl coat, I bet that it would really look good. :thinking

I also thought basic white was just boring. Thanks for the opinions. Im along way from the paint phase so i still have lots of time to think about it and decide.

I kinda like the red/white combo. It fits the era of the truck. Stay away from adding modern pearls and metallic's... It just dosen't play right on these trucks.
You might look at 63 Dodge truck "Sunset Yellow". Its soft and pale and would be a nice contrast. I used it as the top color on a 63 "Bell Green" Town Wagon restro.... Everyone loves it.

That is old code Cub Cadet Beige. Also Krylon sweet cream. Used it on my motorcycle and will be on my 49 Dodge.

Cool! I got my side panels and front fender sides done on my motorcycle. And the headlight and front fender crown are pumpkin orange. Which will look great on the bike and Super Beetle lowrider (long story), but NOT on my 49 Dodge (truck). It will be dark blue with cub cadet beige (Valspar tractor enamels).

Haven't fired off my Swepty in a month or so. Too cold to paint outside, too dirty in the garage to do anything (except blow up the garage). I don't think the garage has been cleaned out in 50 years (or more), and the trucks won't fit in it anyway. Plus the 4.3 V6 C-10 flat out embarrassed my 318... :censored four speed slush boxes... time for an overhaul.

Can't wait to see another cream and (add color here) truck. There are a few on the Pilot House forum too.
