Hi all,
I have been searching all over the web to get some details on a truck I might pick up from an old guy I know. He has two 1964 Dodge pickups sitting out on his property that he is willing to part with pretty quickly. I have been told they are 4WD and have the worktruck boxes/compartments on the rear. He says they used to be Air Force owned trucks that his dad bought at an auction. He thinks they both have 6 cyl in them but didn't seem sure and I wouldn't think they would have made the 4WDs with a 6 cylinder. I have been searching and I believe they might be the Tradesmen versions? When I get a chance to go and take some pics I will but until then, can anyone provide any insight at to what they might be? W???, D??? 100, 200, 300??? I just couldn't find anything definitive.

Also, what might the drivetrain consist of as far as axles, transmissions, transfer cases, gear ratios, etc...Thanks!

If they are a 64 4x4 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck, they would be a W100 or W200. The 225 /6 was standard.318 v8 extra. running gear would be 3 speed(not likely) or np 420 or 435 4 speed, np201 transfercase ,dana 44 front and dana 60 rear. This goes for both w100 and 200. Gear ratios are likely 4.10 or 4.88 .

if they are 4x4 they will be a W 100 ,200 or 300 air force probly a w200 for 3/4 ton and if they are should be a closed knuckle dana 44 up front and probly like a 60 out back I might not be a 100% on that 300s or 1 ton had slightly diffrent fenders up front and a filler panel between the bumper and bottom of the grill shell. snap a couple quick pics post um these guyys will help you get them figured out in a jiffy

"Tradesmen" was never used with 61-71 trucks. D = 2wd, W = 4wd. 100-800 denotes the weight rating, 100 = 1/2t, 200 = 3/4t, etc
All the info u want to know is shown on the data plates in the driver's door frame, below the striker.

Actually the Ad is correct, it’s singular not plural. Its referring to one specific package not a few guys who are in a specific trade.

But the ad also says tradesmen. "...carpenters and tradesmen of all kinds..." and is used with 61-71 Dodge trucks. I thought you had me for a second there.

Not sure. I was going to look in my brochures but I forgot. It did come with the special box on the back. It was available on D100, D200 and W200 trucks and had a 7.5' bed. It appears to have been available 61-early 65 and the 4 wheel drive versions were 64-65 only. I've seen these boxes on later Sweptlines but they were probably done by an aftermarket manufacturer.

As for having badges that say Tradesman, it doesn't appear that they ever did.
