sweptline travisty
Wow have you ever seen someone doing something wrong, but not illegal and wanted to hit them until they stopped ? I did, freind of mine told me about a guy that was into old dodge trucks so I stopped by his place and he had about 10 sweptlines and even a 68 Power Wagon sitting in his yard. Want know what he was doing with them ? He used them in truck DEMO DERBY wow some of the trucks had no rust and clean as heck he said he had more and would not sell any of them but would sell trim and glass and tcase and frt diffs because he had no use for them .Some people should be stopped hope you can sleep after hearing this horror story

They are his trucks and he can do whatever he wants with them. It is NOT a travesty, it is NOT wrong and this is not same fantasy world of idol (sweptline) worshipping dolts who have the right to impose their misguided will on others.RiteAwayOil wrote:Wow have you ever seen someone doing something wrong, but not illegal and wanted to hit them until they stopped ? .....Some people should be stopped ......
Another way to look at it, is to be proud they are so tuff that they are his preference.
U say he would not sell any. Did YOU make him an offer he COULDN'T refuse?

I know that they are his and he can do what he wants I was just trying to say that if it where me I would at least keep some of the clean ones to keep the history alive

What city were they located in? I lived in MN for many years and know of many Sweptlines from up there so I'm just curious.

Re: sweptline travisty
I wonder,... there is such a shortage of 73 - up Chevy and Ford trucks around there that he has to use Sweptlines? Where does this guy live anyway? Planet No-Junk?
Maybe if he got more offers to buy them, he would learn that they have more value than to be used that way?

I know some derbys don't allow trucks. The Sweptlines are bulletproof for this kind of thing though so that is probably why he uses them. Some places ban Imperials too.

He is going head to head with trucks.soopernaut wrote:I know some derbys don't allow trucks. The Sweptlines are bulletproof for this kind of thing though so that is probably why he uses them. Some places ban Imperials too.
I recently gave away a genuine 1969 CHP Polara to someone who was going to use it in a derby, it was to far rusted to save.
I get the it's your vehicle do as you please, but there are probably 10:1 Chevy and Ford trucks out there.
I also say trade him a derby-able truck.
I once saw a 1967 Barracuda in pretty darn good shape sitting in a lineup to crushed by a monster truck, the promoter said he'd trade for a complete car (he wouldn't even let a part from under he hood go)

Re: sweptline travisty
when I think of the old mopars i destroyed in the quest for demo derby wins, from coronets to monacos, new yorkers and furys-I used them because i knew i could win with them.I have pictures that would make you cry(especially the coronet-before and after)They all died in a blaze of glory(some literally ablaze) instead of rusting into history-a fitting end in my opinion-do not go gently into that goodnight, rage against the dying of the light
Re: sweptline travisty
When I was out at French Lake auto parts last year, he had a few trucks, rust free from AZ. Said the derby guys go nuts for em, sad, very sad. That being said, I did derby a 62 long bed once, she was tough.

Re: sweptline travisty
I despise demo derbies, but the vehicles involved belong to the people involved in them. You can not, and should not, dictate what they do with them. How would you like it if a group of people told you you can not DRIVE your Swepty, or anything else, for that matter? You'd rightly tell them to go piss up a rope! Yeah, I get miffed when I see a big C-body go in a blaze of GM-destroying glory, and I've just heard now of pickup demo derbies, but you can not save them all. The guys that whine the most, usually do not have the coin to buy the car or truck when it's in the paper or online for sale. It is what it is, gang.

Yes. The bar on the top and those things protruding from the front were probably added later.Seff wrote: btw thats a cool bumber. is it factory?
