ANother New guy

Post by rkhouse »

Hello,
We have seen the website and finally got on the ball to try and connect on it. We have a 68 D 100 that we have been getting together and is on the road now. It really is my wife's truck but I get to figure out problems. It is done in 2 tone Silver and Purple Rhino skin. We though something different would be fun and we don't have to worry about it. Just thought I would drop a line and see if my photos loaded.
Thanks,
Reise and Karen House
This is a photobucket image. Yes I am not good on the computer so if anyone could help me post photos that would be great!

That is a cool looking truck. Interesting treatment with the Rhino lining.

Our truck looked about like your blue one before we got started but ours was yellow. It had so many little dings in the body (no rust it came with us from Arizona) that to fix them all was really a nightmare. We went to get the bed lined and looked ot to getting all done and then this is what we got.

Console photos! Not real difficult but nice. You always need a cup holder.

We built it then had it covered at a shop. They did the skull emboss to match the seat backs. The cup holders are from a boat shop along with the box hole too. The Rhino skin came out neat and the best part is we still use it like a truck. We haul etc with it. Don't have to worry about messing up the paint job. We still run the straight axle under the front but with disc brakes. Our Speedo is dead so we just use a tom tom as it has a built in speedo and it helps us get around. Most is just stock but we gave the 383 headers and a 4 barrel along with a little bigger cylinders in the rebuild. The 727 was rough so we took it to a speed shop and they replaced it with a nice current heavy duty one so I can abuse it. I think the funniest thing is folks always ask if they can touch it. Sure not like it will hurt. SO all in all a different and fun truck. I still need to find something to cover the steering wheel. Does anyone know of any truck or mopar get to gethers out here on the east coast besides Carlisle?

The console looks good, and I like the use of the "100" emblem. I was wondering about the cost of the rhino liner, because around here just to do the inside of the bed is 4-5 hundred bucks. The whole truck would be outrages !! I'm thinking about having the bottom of an old jon boat done to stop the rivits from leaking.

If anybody wants a console built, that's right up my alley. I can use my 70 for a pattern and ship it to you.

Haven't really thought about that. I guess I need to build one and then I'd know how much time and materials I had invested. Also, would depend on what all you needed it to do. Could be just for cup holders , to a fully contained stereo system, easily removable for anti theft purposes.
Apologies to rkhouse...didn't mean to hijack the thread. So, if anybody has a question, just pm me.

Sorry was gone for a bit.
Out here the rhino truck was supposed to cost right around 10K which is cheaper than a good paint job but it crept up to around 12K. The guys we had do it had a hard time sticking to the estimate. So make sure you get a good shop to do it. A bed out here was around 800. The price of living out on the east coast near DC.
The pedal in the truck I found NOS on ebay for around $15 with postage. Seemed no one wanted it at that time.
No worries on the console deal. You can pretty much just do some measurements build a frame with plywood and cover it. The hard part was finding the cup holders but once we found the boat shop deal it was no problem. Extra Dodge or D 100 emblems use at your own discretion.

If you have an ACADEMY SPORTS store in your area, they are a good place to find cupholders in their boating section. Also some pretty good electrical wiring items too.
