Now you need to take them off and paint the background area.
I am still debating on that one. somedays I can see the red/orange color in there. I think they were black in 61 but I dont liek the black, or just leave them chrome.
You could always paint the turquoise color for the background. "Technically", you could paint them ON the truck by using a lettering brush or something similar. If you get paint on the number or border, you can wipe it off easily because those areas are higher. Nice looking truck too!!! Don't worry about the background color being "original" as it is your truck and you can do anything you like. Besides... that color can be changed at anytime.
Something I've done on emblems...take a small flat tip arts/crafts paint brush and brush on vaseline on all areas that you don't want paint....protect the perimeter...spray the background ...when dry wipe off the vaseline...re-touch as needed. Chris.
what i do on one that easy is tape off the edges and numbers. on more intricate stuff I take the spray can of paint and spray a whole bunch into the cap then carefully pour it into the emblem sometimes using a brush to help the paint flow all around

And again, wow, that truck looks great!
I think super swamper makes a 34 inch tall very skinny offroad tire for 16 inch rims. most think they are too skinny but I prefer that here in wa as Iam not going up sand dunes in my 4x4s

Three words; Women's Nail Polish. Applicator brush right in the cap, dries hard, works great. Used a nice red color on mine and it looked nice against the white on my 66. Millions of colors to choose from if you don't like red or black. Your truck looks great by the way!

Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look at them, the skinner ones are better on the tank, on the highway and in the snow, so that would be perfect. No sand dunes near me either.
