Swap 74 radiator into a 69? Opinions?

Post by gwilson09 »

I need to replace the radiator on my 69 and was thinking of getting the Spectra Industries CU889 from AutoZone. This would require installing a water pump with an outlet on the other (passenger) side of the engine. Anyone here do this before? I don't have the cash to have my original radiator redone (if it's even possible) and I could get the pump and radiator for about $200. All advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Glenn

If you go with the earlier water pump, you
"might" have to locate the proper crank and
water pump pulleys too.... :2cents A good
re-core job would run you about $300-$350.

So, you're saying it may not be as simple as throwing on a radiator and water pump for a 74? I should have known. It wouldn't be such a PITA if the truck weren't my daily driver. Looks like I'm off to seek out a reputable radiator guy here in Austin.
