Needs help with Restoration Questions.
OK, my step dad has a 1973 dodge Ram, But my problem i cant tell if its a W series or a D series. On the outside there is a thing that says d-200 but i don't understand how that is possible considering D series are 2x not 4x. I am restoring it this summer and need help so i know i am restoring the correct model. So if someone could help me out with this problem then that would be awesome.

Re: Needs help with Restoration Questions.
I believe it goes like this:
D100, 200, 300, etc. =2wd
W100, 200, 300, etc. =4wd
Good luck with the restoration.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

I bought a '73 3/4 ton 4x4 new. They are W's when a 4x and they were not yet called a Ram in that year. The model should be a W200.Seff wrote:OK, my step dad has a 1973 dodge Ram, But my problem i cant tell if its a W series or a D series. Welcome , another person from
Bellingham good !
it's probably a W200 but like what was mentioned before someone swapped out Emblems or body parts or turned a 2 wheel drive into a 4x4...lot of possibility...your Vin # will tell the story. as well as your registrations and Title.

Re: Needs help with Restoration Questions.
Should look something like this and on the webbing there should be a stamped "D60"

Re: Needs help with Restoration Questions.
oki, i crawled under my truck today. the front axle has 44-3EF on the upper right webbing and a 2 on the bottom right webbing. the rear axle has c-30256 on the upper right webbing(which is upsidedown when i wrote it down) and 60 on the bottom right webbing. so if someone understands this then please let me know wat it means.

I don't know what it all means but there is a 44 on the front axle and a 60 on the rear axle. I would guess that means you have a dana 44 front and dana 60 rear axle.

This is the page from my 1977 book, I believe all Life Style series trucks VIN's were formatted the same way.

Re: Needs help with Restoration Questions.
Sweptline is a name (Dodge I think) used to describe the body style of trucks from 1961 to 71. Sweptline refers to the body line that extends from one end of the truck to the other.

Re: Needs help with Restoration Questions.
In reference to what I posted: Sweptline refers to an internal (Wide) fender box, Utiline is one with the fenders external (Proud), and no reference means it is a cab and chassis.

My 1955 m37
I have a 1955 dodge m37 Canadian military truck and the engine smokes really bad, it has a np420 transmission in it and I was wondering if there is a newer engine that will bolt in without any major fab work?
