At any rate, the Ford is reliable, and will work with what I need. It's got a 460 V8 and 4 barrel Holly Carb. She's a go getter. :)
I'm still really upset about my Dodge though...

those old F-series trucks are pretty hardy..a buddy has an F350 with the 390, and if that truck could talk, we'd be in jail hahahahPeacefulChaos wrote:Oh trust me. I didn't get a Sweppy this time, but for my daily driver I have a 79 Ford F-250 Ranger. :) I'm also thinking about getting the money saved up to buy my mom an old sports car. We need some project cars to work on.

Dman wrote:how disappointing, that truck was still in pretty good shape and would have made a great donor for a straight frame...even the damage to the bed was minimal compared to what I have seen other people fix. all those great parts smashed into a Toyota or a microwave...
wideblock, you bet I'll stick around. I'm still looking to go to tradeschool for auto body and detailing, and mechanics. My hobby will to be restoring older cars, while I fix the newer ones for a job. Pretty nifty, huh? Yes, I'm planning on fixing everything I can on her. I want her to jump over the stop sign when I romp on her.63d100sixer wrote: those old F-series trucks are pretty hardy..a buddy has an F350 with the 390, and if that truck could talk, we'd be in jail hahahah
but that 460 is a different animal all together lol...put a new timing set on it, if you havent already..IIRC after 72, the crank is retarded 6 or so degrees for smog reasons, so the DOT that you line up with the one on the cam is retarded (left of the keyway)...less power...find a set where the DOT is lined up with the keyway, and you'll FEEL the difference...helped in my lincoln with the 429 ( came with the 460..429 is essentally the same as 460, but different bore/stroke)
I moved, so I don't have to worry about that again. And I've got a 79 F-250 Ranger. So I'm all set on a fixer upper, if I can get it from my father. -.-" otherwise, I've got another Ford sitting in my driveway now, that I could fix up. Just need the money to do it is all.junior wrote:My 64 dodge truck was rear ended by some drunk ten years ago.I had to put the bed of a 1960 ford truck on it,could not find an old dodge bed and newer beds looked bad on the old truck. The two front fenders came from a 1967 two ton truck. The front bumper from a 1975 dodge truck and made to fit,Bumper guards from a 62 Rambler,16" wheels from a 1998 ford crown Victoria,It can be done with patience -a labor of love.Find another truck and make one good one from the two.I put a lot of reflectors in inconspiciuous places on my truck so when headlights hit it,it shines like a christmas ornament.Hopefully they won't ever hit it again.I park in the drive way mostly now.Especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

You are clearly very bright and articulate! Sorry to read about your truck, but I sense that you have a great future.
