Darn soft 1/2 ton suspensions

I loaded the parts truck on the car trailer today. My spongy Nissan Titan hunkered right down in the tail end. It sets about right pulling the Airstream, but I guess the Swepty is a little more nose heavy.

If I were keeping the Titan, I'd bag the rear, but I had planned to sell it after the big trip west next week. I hate to drop money in a rig I'm not keeping long. I guess the stiff D200 CS springs have me spoiled.

Ah, well, when I haul the parts truck, I can move her back a couple of feet to lighten the tongue. I may have to play with the ball height a little to get everything right. It's always something.

I thought you meant on your Swepty. Mine has very weak springs. As soon as I get some cash it is going to the driveline shop. I've yet to see a tag with softer springs than what I've got.

Be careful moving it back!! I rolled a trailer on 97 doing 65mph a long time ago. Very scary!

Thats what I get for getting a preloaded trailer full of well drilling supplies including 2 pallets of concrete against the back door!!

I just finished getting back from picking up the green 70 Dude. Used my wives 2006 Ford Expedition (she can get whatever make used car she wants as long as i can get my trucks, lol). Car hauler with loaded truck squatted that Expedition pretty good.

I was not about to load it more towards the rear. Tail wagging the dog syndrome.. been there before not at all fun....

I have a Titan as well and it sure doesn't take much to bottom it out. It has plenty of power to pull, but as far as payload it kind of sucks. I *#%^$ everytime I tried to load stuff in the back of it. It either weighs to much or the bed isn't big enough I finally took out a tape measure and the bed is 5' x 5 1/2'. I need to get one of my trucks on the road...Besides that it's been a great truck

I forgot to get a picture of it loaded and tied down, i was sweating like a pig and wanted to get going.. lol the expedition was squatting really bad, trust me!

My F150 doesn't seem bad for towing. It probably has a stiffer suspension than a Titan and the Expedition is probably setup to ride more like a passenger car since that is how most of them are probably used. I also have the off road suspension which is probably stiffer that a standard suspension. Sometimes it is a bit slow going up steep grades though.

My early '65 D100 has the SERT for Frame Reinforcement and also has the overload
springs. It seems pretty beefy. As I have some 3/4 ton trucks and a one ton F350,
I don't have to ask too much of the '65.

Thanks, you just answered a question I had in my mind, the 68 & 65 have overload springs, and I was curious to how they did, gettin ready to put them to work real soon.
