The sickness grows, 2nd truck

Post by jeffz »

I went to look at this 67d200 to buy it for doors for my 66, but the doors are 68 style. But that didn't stop me. A youngster was selling "grandpa's" truck. No keys, no history, just a NM title signed off by a p.o. , who knows when. I estimate it's been sitting in a dirt lot, unshaded in AZ for about 10 years. I'm still getting to know it, but it appears to be very original, straight, no significant rust, and unmolested other than the add-on(?) ac and the usual door cutting for speakers and aftermarket radio. I'm definately taking the chrome grille and inside door panels and armrests for my 66, but haven't decided to get it running or part it. It seems a shame to part it, though. I haven't found even a ding on the whole body or trim. The bed has to be solid, since it had a bunch of parts, wheels+tires, and the engine and a half still back there.

I'd have purchased it as well. And being that clean, I'd keep it together.
The obsession has begun...
Thank goodness I have a daily driver.

I agree keep the truck, it looks really clean.

I'll bet passengers were rather uncomfortable sitting in that truck. The A/C setup sure it sticking out from the dash pretty far.

I'd definitely keep it whole. If you do part it out.... put me down for
those "Wayne Lovelady" dealership plaques.... they're too cool!! :clap
That is a real nice straight truck.... looks like a coat of wax and a tune
up might be all it needs for some cruising. :dance

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Lots of good advice. I'm definately gonna give it a chance.
I have to figure out why the clutch pedal is on the floor, the return spring is so HD, I can't imagine it broke. :thinking
Also I can't get the hood up since it was towed home. The kid lifted it right away when we were looking at it.
Anybody need an (stock) air cleaner for a 318? It's on the scrap pile now. Just pay shipping.
Hob. : My wife also loves the Wayne Lovelady emblems. Too bad for everyone but me. No way I'm pushing my luck there. But what a great thing to collect, from a bygone era that will never return. I'd love to have a garage wall festooned with them, with a big map of the USA, and the emblems placed accordingly.

Very nice score you got there! That truck is clean, just needs some interior work and maintenance.

I got this info from Jimmie D a while back....Mine stayed down as well... I hope it helps....

The under dash clutch pedal return spring works on the over-center principle. Up to a certain designed point it gives strong and quick return on clutch pedal because of the angles. That same angularity of the action also causes that it will reach an over-center point where it can no longer exert force because pedal travel has exceeded design limits. At that point the pedal is down and stays down: normal.
