has anyone ever tried to haul a swept n a uhaul or penske trailer? i need to haul my 69 w200 from CA to Kansas and am coming up blank on rental trailers. i know they wont rent one for the truck because its not on the list, but my wifes malibu is..... i guess if all else fails i can flat tow it but that leaves me scrambling to get it all set up. will the uhaul or penske trailer fit the truck? i know that its over the weight/size for penske and very close on the uhaul. just need to know if its been done befor i drive the 45 miles to rent and pickup the trailer days before i leave just to find out it wont fit.
P.S. sorry for the quasi repost, this is very urgent!

Tell them your going to pull a small car rather than the truck.

Something like this?
This trailer would be too short for a lwb. The 68 W200 is on a towbar hooked to the 70 W200. I towed a 6000# trailer without brakes from CA to MI twice, behind a 70 W200. Not recommended, but it did it fine. Even hit unexpected snow and ice in MT mid Sep - scary as hell!
U didnt say what u are towing with.
Just call the rental company and get all the trailer dimensions and weight capacity. Measure it up and u will find out if it fits.

used Uhaul to get my '63 lwb d100 home. Be careful putting it on the trailer, mine only fit with about one inch on each side. Will hang over a little bit. Only towed about ten miles though.

I fit my '66 d100 LWB on a penske and hauled it from north UT to south CA. The rear tires were barely on, but it rode just fine. careful with the ramps when you're pullin it off. Both fell out when my front tires touched them as I was pullin the swept off. GRRR. No damage anywhere at least.

They fit on the Penske trailers, but barely. Tires are 9.50 16.5's. Straps barely go on them. Large tires not advised.

Yes, it's that close!

My only other advise is to load it backwards. Too much overhang. Makes the thing want to whip on ya. Just watch your tight turns and you should be fine though.
For reference: My 72 chassis equipped 66 on a u-haul trailer:

31 x 10.50's all around. The 72 is a few inches longer wheelbase too, FYI. Request the older car trailer from u-haul though.

This one got turned around too. This bed is nearly 9 feet long, so even more overhang than the W200. But even at that, it had plenty of room for tight turns.
