Flex fan direction

Should the blades face toward the radiator or toward the engine? Mine looks like it will hit my battery box if I face them toward the engine.

Cupped toward engine to be able to pull the air thru the radiator. Make sure it is a clockwise running fan!

318 would spin it clockwise if i was sitting in the truck looking towards the radiator?

ok then that means my fan has been on backwards? It curves and the ends of the blades face the radiator.

When the engine is running, the edge of the blade that is closest to the radiator should pass by any given fixed point on the motor first. This is the leading edge of the blade.

Flex flans can flatten out and actually block air to the engine at higher speeds. I''ve had bad luck with them. Git yerself a five balded hi-po fan with a hydraulic clutch. You can find them at a junkyard fairly easy, or I've got an extra one. They're weird looking--off kilter as far as the blades go.

In regards to fans, any fan from any MoPar engine will bolt up, as far as I have found. From slant 6 to the 440, the water pump bolt pattern is the same. With this in mind, go find something with A/C on it and get the 8 blade fan from it. I prefer solid fans over clutch type, but to each his own. The few hp lost is worth the massive cooling potential IMHO.
