Found a 71 LB D100 destined for the crusher
Found a 71 LB D100 destined for the crusher
Found a 71(I think) looking for parts trucks for my 67 project that I don't really need any parts off. The truck was like an hour from civilization at a towing companies crushing yard in BFE. Body is in really nice shape with the only real damage was the grill was screwed up. The front bumper was tweaked. The kick panels under the door were rusted out and someone installed cordoba bullet mirrors on the door. It is a floor shifted 4 speed with a chrome hurst shifter (not sure if this is factory). Slant six with chrome valve cover and timing cover. No radiator but the engine compartment looks really clean like someone did some work cleaning it up. Exterior is baby blue with aftermarket chrome wheels and the rear end is a 3.91(probably open). Hate to see it get crushed. If anyone is interrested it's outside of Moro, OR.

Do you have any pictures of it, particularly the tranny/shifter? Or contact info for the yard? I get to The Dalles/Tygh Valley area every couple months.

Hell for all I know the shifter could be from a A or B-body car I just know it says HURST on the side and it's chrome. Don't know if or how you can mount a 4 speed to a slant six but I think that is what it has. The guy who has it owns some towing business in Moro, OR. I lost the number.

Pretty easy to mount a four speed side loader behind a slant six, lots of A bodies and pickups came that way from the factory in the 70s. Usually they used an OD our speed, to help the fuel economy. Don't know for certain but I think the 883 will bolt right up where the 3 speed came out.

Did they have a 4 speed overdrive in 71? It's probably an 833. Maybe it is a factory setup. Anyways I found the info. It's at Trans Towing (541)565-3005. I also found a 70 today. it's at Mt. Hood Towing in Parkdale, OR. (541)352-1000 john@mthoodtowingandsalvage.com
The 70 seems pretty complete except the carb (which I have). It's a LB 318, 4sp., AC D100 with a d200 rear end.

The A833 was never offered in Swepties, but it's exactly the tranny I want to put in mine. Thanks for finding the number, I'll have to give them a call.
