Re: Searching...
That '68 has some nice parts on it, wish I could locate a junker somewhere near me. Hmmm, I see nice hood letters and wipers, glass looks pretty good, body trim, couple of emblems, and of course the round 3 hole on the door!!!!

Re: Searching...
I was sitting in the truck eating lunch when I just happened to glance at the rear view in time to see a crew cab! I immediately started contemplating where to start searching for it after work.
A few minutes later it drove by again (circling the square). I though, "man I gotta find this truck!"
Back to work, and about 10 minutes later the truck comes rolling around the square a 3rd time. This time he parked so I was able to snap a pic and talk to him. It was kind of rough, but still a good running power wagon. He said he's gonna call me to buy front doors when he scrapes up some cash.

How long does a truck have to sit in order to get that deep in the ground? Wow!mopardwh wrote:Sure enough, here is the 68 he told me about. About 1 mile from my work and I never even knew.
Great thread. Since seeing this a while back I keep my eyes peeled around here for that Kodak moment.

Re: Searching...
Stupid camera phones.
Almost all of these photo's were taken with my phone, and it takes pretty good pictures for a phone. But too often it gives me problems like today. I was up in the air when this beautiful 68 grain truck came rolling through Newburgh. Flipped out the phone and snap... "Memory full".
Ok, so I knew he was coming back once empty, so I deleted some and made more memory. Got the pic from the 20' up when he came back through, and it was such a nice looking truck. But then when I went to send it to my email it gave me another error.
So anyway, I had to shrink it to go through, and so all I have is this very crappy photo that really does this truck no justice.

(No, the white one isn't leaning, I took the pic with my phone doing 65.
I have one in my driveway...a heart of low miles big block 440. Runs like a top but inside leaked and I gutted it. Makes a great storage shed

Re: Searching...
Well I couldn't beleive it when I found these 2 in the junk yard. The first one, a 67 D100 I already posted on page 3 of this thread over a year ago. The owner told me he would call me before he got rid of them
(he also has a 71 camper special that I still want). So now it just has a couple of valuable parts left, and about a month before it's crushed.
The second one is a really cool D500 dump bed. LOTS of good parts. I've got most of them already, gonna go back soon.

Re: Searching...
This artic blue 68 was a big inspiration for me. It was probably the first Sweptline I spotted in Evansville. It was my favorite color with my favorite grille. It took me several months of searching to find where the guy lived. Finally I did, and he give me some story how he didn't have much use for it and wanted to leave it to his son, but his son didn't want it, so he wanted his grandson to have it but he wouldn't be caught dead in it, but yet he still didn't want to sell it to someone who really wanted it.
Anyway, I finally got a pic of it the other day.
I found this red 69 D200 today south of Greenfield, IN on my way to pick up our new bucket truck.

It should be less than that now. It's been on craigslist for a while and I noticed a price drop.mopardwh wrote:Here's a 71 D100 here in town I found just today. For sale sign in the window. Real nice guy, said he wants 2 grand.

He said he's only had it a few months, and it had all new hoses, water pump, etc. Also had a really nice set of police wheels and tires that looked new. He said that's what he had in it, so $2k, $1600 without the rims.soopernaut wrote:It should be less than that now. It's been on craigslist for a while and I noticed a price drop.
Was it Evansville craigslist or Illinois? That's where he said he got it (Crossville).
**EDIT** Nevermind, I found it. http://westky.craigslist.org/cto/1514962993.html

Re: Searching...
The owner of the green 71 (at the top of this page) told me about another swept less than a mile from my house! So I went by there today and sure enough was a 69 D100. I knew it couldn't have been there long because I've looked and looked and looked up and down that road because it's an industrial road with several used old car lots (the kind we look for
). He confirmed that he recently aquired it. It has a good box as well as many other parts, but the cab is beyond repair in my opinion. I may get it later on.
