Anyone interested in a Dana 44 with a disc brake conversion? Out of a 67 Power Wagon. 4.10 gears in good condition. Warn hubs. I upgraded to a Dana 60. Located in Greenville SC.

Curious as to how you did that conversion, particularly with regard to the shocks and brake hoses. Did you take any provisions to preclude bump steer and death wobble? The 60 is really heavy. How is the ride?
In other words, please start a buld thread and let us know what you did!

Re: ugly truckling disc brakes
When I put the disc brake 60 in my 65,I cut the shock mounts off and welded them on where needed. The brake hoses are for an 80 w300 and a short piece of steel line.Wildergarten wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 8:35 pmCurious as to how you did that conversion, particularly with regard to the shocks and brake hoses. I do still need a custom drag link and a different master cylinder for the disc brakes.

I did too.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 8:13 amWhen I put the disc brake 60 in my 65,I cut the shock mounts off and welded them on where needed.
There is a company here locally that makes them from braided stainless, but I haven't yet discerned where to put the hole through the frame, length, etc.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 8:13 amThe brake hoses are for an 80 w300 and a short piece of steel line.
The drag link I've done... I think. I did have to use a different drive arm than what came for it to level the link, but I won't know if it's right until the truck is fully loaded.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2023 8:13 amI do still need a custom drag link and a different master cylinder for the disc brakes.
I take it you have had no problems with death wobble or bump steer. A good many of the 60 installations I've seen had crossover steering, but I can't do that with the PTO shaft coming through the same area.

I also have an LU 2 winch and decided against the cross over idea. After I get the big block in it I will deal with the link, as it will likely change again anyway, I will be designing a power steering system for it.
I really should have started a build thread long ago, and took a lot more pics!
