Sound deadening
Sound deadening
Im getting my floor pans replaced soon, fixing the rust. While everything is out of the cab I want to try to make my cab quiter. Has anyone done this? Dynomat any good? If possible I would like to be able to take work calls while driving. Thanks!

Underbody coating also helps.

A nice thick headliner will help. Also less aggressive tires makes a difference.

Factory offered sound deadening insulation panels that attached to the firewall above the carpet up to the heater and wiring and also on the kneewalls.

Re: Sound deadening
I utilized Hush Mat, that I sourced from Summit Racing. It also slows thermal conduction as well as a moisture barrier from melting snow that soaks carpet and the sound deadening pad attached to bottom of it and the rubber mat. I utilized it for the floor boards, rear cab wall, the inside of the door skins, and the roof. It really made a difference. The doors have a more solid feel/sound when closing. I have photos of the installation, but I'm traveling now and I don't have access to my server. I utilized foil HVAC tape to seal the Hush Mat joints.
I wouldn't bother with the fiberglass backed fiber board for the firewall. They are real flimsy and not forgiving. I ran the Hush Mat all the way up. I sourced the Auto Direct carpet from Rock Auto. It is also cut to go to the top of where the fiberglass backed fiber board would end. So I ran it all the way up and utilized large head christmas tree fasteners to secure the carpet in the fiber board holes.

Re: Sound deadening
True indeed! But if the poster or someone searching the topic is planning a "restoration" the original material would be required.
Good to facilitate both.

Re: Sound deadening
Good information as my "68 D100 longbed is going to go through the same deal as well as mysteriously turn into a factory shortbed in the process lol.
