Hello From SoCal
Hello From SoCal
I picked up this 1964 Sweptline at the end of September. It had been sitting since at
least 08'. It's a custom cab (?) with a 318 and push button auto. Towed it home and been
working on the last 6-7 weeks to get it road worthy.
Usual fluids changed, rebuilt the alternator and carb (then bought a rebuilt, had a manual
carb on it) replaced water pump, refurbed the radiator, new master cylinder, rebuilt
front wheel cylinders, replaced soft lines, new low beams, dash bulbs, made a new headliner,
new rims/tires, a few other little things. I'm maybe almost halfway though my list but it
keeps growing lol.
I've been searching here a lot while waiting for membership, lots of great info that has
saved me time and headaches, thanks.
I'm loving this truck. Finally got out for a nice little cruise today and snagged a few photos.
The first one is the day I picked it up to bring it home. Last photo reminds me I need to find
a pair of those tail gate pivot brackets.

Truck was bought new at Downey Dodge in SoCal. The guy I bought it from (he bought it in May) got it from the original ownerswally426ci wrote:man, the truck looks GREAT!

son in law. I assume he was going to work on it but sold it instead. Before I got it the floors were done (not a great job but I'll
only redo if I go full restoration) and the seat re-upholstered. Spent most of it's time in and around LA until it went Oxnard. I
bought it in Sun Valley. It was listed for $4k and I got it for $3k which I thought was pretty good for the market here. Does have
some rust in the door bottoms which again I'll fix if I decide to paint etc.
I can email you full rez photos if you like them, they are over 1MB for sure.
Here's a shot of the headliner I made for about $20. Used a sheet of pressboard from Lowes and picked up some black burlap
from a local foam/fabric store. I used spray adhesive to attach and some foam pieces on the back to hold it in place.

Re: Hello From SoCal
FYI, there are NO paint codes on Sweptline trucks through their run 61-71. So... unless you find a very rare build sheet, (which I am not sure he color is on those either) you will not find a paint code.TheMopars wrote:Thanks, I was curious about that since there's no paint code on the vin tag.Txas2step wrote:FYI, the color is Sand Dune White.

Going to have to pickup a copy of your CD. I bought a service manual which helps but seems they left out a lot of stuff.

Nice solid 64.
You wont find the code on the truck, but there are codes from PPG. 80624 Sand Dune White
