Hi everyone
Thanks for the help so far
Want to convert the old girl to power steering and disc front brakes
This would have to be the most confusing subject here. Some say there is a kit and then I heard scare bird does not do them anymore
I would really like to do this to make the truck drive and stop better. I use her as a daily driver and the braking can get scary in traffic
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: 68 d100 power steering and disc brake conversion
Scarebird LLC does indeed sell a set of mounting plates for the disc brake conversion. The rest of the parts are stock rotors from a crown vic and stock calipers from a GM van or pickup. That and some new hoses and a proportioning valve will get you front disc brakes.
As far as Power Steering goes...I dont know how much you want to get into but the only true bolt on would be the stock power assist from Mopar. They can be hard to find and have been criticized for more than one shortcoming. Other more conventional systems usually require modifications and the cobbling together of both off the shelf parts from other manufacturers as well as some fabrication. One exception would be an article I just saw about a power rack and pinion. Its on here...just have to find it again.
Another option would be to hack the front clip off a Dodge diplomat or Chrysler Cordoba and stub it on to your truck frame...giving you a real IFS with disc brakes and power steering.
Search the forums and take your time. I have been looking at this page for over a year trying to decide. Wound up going with the scarebird disc conv. and relying on Armstrong steering.
cheers

Re: 68 d100 power steering and disc brake conversion
Thanks for the details
I have installed a new torque tube, tie rod ends, etc plus a steering stabilizer and damper from Rancho
It rocks now and drives totally awesome.
I put in a new master cylinder and wheel cylinders as well and she stops pretty sweet for drums now
I think I will go with the scare bird kit as well. Looks like it's the best overall solution without major surgery
I went to the scare bird site and the kit for the truck seemed to be unavailable
I will call them and see what they say
Lovin this truck now. It's real fun and I can stand on it now and it really shifts with the herbed up 360 and the stick shift
3.23 rear end next and it will really haul @#%
