Hello,
My engine bogs down when I accelerate the gas pedal. I also notice there is signs of gas around the carb. I have a 1972 318 thats in my 1965 D100 (4 light)She ran liked a raped ape before yesterday. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Question. Will the engine rev okay if you ease down on the throttle or does it do it all the time. USUALLY, if it revs okay when the throttle is eased down it's the accel pump. Otherwise it's probably a vacuum leak. Good luck. Mike

Check to see if that fuel is leaking out of the bowl-vent tube. If it is, you make have a stuck float
Is the carb dry in the morning? If so, start it up and look to see where that gas is coming from when it first starts coming out. If it didnt leak before, and it does now, at the same time as your bogging problem, then the leak and problem are likely to be related, so thats the first thing Id check for.. It's happened to me several times before my carb was rebuilt (this was years ago my trucks been dead, er, sleeping, for a while now hehe).
And of course, just like oldguy said, it could be the accel pump (it's more likely actually)....if that little diaphragm in there breaks gas will come through, so look at where your accel pump is mounted on the top for leaks or pooling around the plunger in the morning also
EDIT: Oh I see now it's a carter huh i was thinking of a diff carb
