Windshield Washer Bags

Post by SEAnthony »

I know questions have arised about the windshield washer bags. I mainly deal with the 69-71 D models so I'm not sure if this applies to the earlier models. I am attaching a picture of the three bags that I have come across.

In the picture starting from left to right:

The one on the far left is the one that is the most common bag found on the truck.

The one in the center is one I purchased from a vendor at a show. As you can see, it has the same part number but it is a different color and a little larger in size.

The one on the far right is the replacement package listed in the 1969-1971 truck parts catalog (section 8-53-327). If you will notice, the grommets are spaced at 7 3/8" center on center, compared to the one commonly found on the trucks which have grommets spaced at 4 7/8" center on center.

I want to know if anyone has come across a N.O.S. original bag on the left.

I've been looking for one of those also. I found a reproduction advertised but it cost over one hundred dollars so I passed on it. I think it was at Year One but can't remember for sure.

I also have one of each...

On the left...the original black version NOS p/n 1972368...that I have seen on 69-71 Sweptlines.

In the center...a white version NOS p/n 1972368 of the same exact bag...

size, shape, and all detail is exactly the same as the black bag.

Both of these have grommets 5 1/2 inches apart. Height is about 11 inches.

On the left is the wider square bag NOS p/n 2076216...that came as a package p/n 2495240,

which I have recently learned is the correct p/n for a 1960 Plymouth Valiant.

The grommets are 7 1/2 inches apart. Height is about 9 inches.

The factory parts catalogue lists the part number for the 69-71 washer bag as p/n 2495240,

as line item 23-67-240 on Text Page 23-47,

which is the same as the package p/n 2495240.

My 70 had the long black one on the left. It's long gone now though.

The one on the left looks like the one that my '66 had. Minus the big gaping holes.

I do not know of anyone that is reproducing the washer bags.

Hey PwrWgnDrvr, do you have any pictures of the ones you are talking about?

Thanks
Anthony

I have 2 of the left ones also. These bags were used on more than Mopars.
It is odd that they haven't showed up in reproduction, even if just functional
replacements verses perfect reproductions. I know I would be happy with
just a nice, functional black bag.
