I layed the tank on its side so that the area I was welding wasn't submerged. If I remember, I will post a pic of the first tank I welded. It is strange that they all seem to crack in the same spot. Although, it dosent leak if you don't fill it up above the cracks.

How I used to deal with it, but on the roads in this area, that means the level must be pretty low. My tiny crack was about 1/3 the way up from the bottom where the tank is also thinner.
