Minimum lift required for 38" superswampers on W200

38" swampers are going to be considerably bigger and harder to fit than 37s.

Same width, 1" larger in diameter and just more aggressive tread. Can't be that much bigger.

I need to replace my brake wheel cylinders soon and will fit the 38's on at that time and take more pictures.

The biggest item that will be different than what you see is I need between 2"-3" spacers for each. I think 2 1/2" will be correct, but need to try them for steering linkage clearance.

Those 37s probably run an inch undersize and the swampers will be true to size or bigger. They'll rub turning/offroad.

here is a pic i snapped in the bone yard today. this was a w200 is this a normal spring setup? looks tall.

also SPESPC in your second pic behind your rear tire there is a factory multi hole bracket. does anyone know what that was for ? thanks

Springs are definitely not factory W-200, and the bracket is for a spare tire carrier. On those springs, I'd say all the square cut leaves were added to the original tapered leaves. Doug

would those 37" OZ military tires fit on a stock 16.5 wheel in respects to the width of the wheel? what size are the stock style steel wheel width? thanks

Good to see. I have some 37 inch Goodrich tires to go on my 1970 W200 crewcab this weekend or next. I was under the impression they would go on in stock configuration. It has the original Denman bias ply now. 36 inch I believe.

Well I have to be honest. I did trim the front fender. The 37"s have no problem and have not rubbed to date (only 100 miles at 40 mph).

Just in case anyone else reads this for lift clearances...

Back in the '80s I had a 4" SuperLift (front spring, rear blocks) that allowed my '71 W100 to clear Q Buckshot Mudders (about 35", IIRC).
The stock steering and drivelines were about stretched to their max at this height. Any further would have required more extensive modifications.

My w100 would fit military 36's @ stock height with the fenders trimmed on the front. I later lifted it 4". It fit military michelins then. They rubbed when flexing on the fronts of the fenders.
