1971 D100, 318, 727, all stock.
I have a whine coming from my transmission. When I am driving, I will get up to around 45mph. After about a minute I get a loud whine. It starts quiet and gets loud fast. It goes away when letting off the gas. Starts instantly when you get back on the gas. I have replaced the fluid and filter. Fluid level is correct. It shifts fine. I just bought this truck "running and driving" last fall. I am not sure how long it was doing this before I bought it. Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Re: 727 Whine
Its more than likely the rear end not the trans.

So what's wrong with setting beneath a single pull string incandescent light bulb writing angry letters?

Re: 727 Whine
As others have said check out pinion bearing. Mine would do that on and off load until it did it all the time and then locked up on the highway.
