Hood scoops on '70 auto show concept Swepty
Hi all,
I know it's hard to clearly see, but there are two small-medium sized hood scoops on this photo from the 1970 Chicago Auto Show (IIRC). Anyone know what these might be from?
(Yes, am thinking of a tribute)
Thanks!

Just looking.... they "almost" look like the scoops that were used on the 1970 Dodge Dart. Click link and see pic

They look like those big HD Ford truck scoops, were very popular on hot rods. Pontiac even put those on the light weight drag cars. `61 Poncho Pontiacs.

I can see them better in this photo. Even though it is probably the same photo, the lighting looks better.

Good eye, Jim... I looked at those, and like them (keeping it Mopar), but they are too low and long to be what's in the picture. These are definitely a possibility!Jims68 wrote:Just looking.... they "almost" look like the scoops that were used on the 1970 Dodge Dart. Click link and see pic

Yes Andy, these HD Ford style scoops look like a match! Any sources? Am searching Internet, with limited results so far.pismopowerwagon wrote: They look like those big HD Ford truck scoops, were very popular on hot rods. Pontiac even put those on the light weight drag cars. `61 Poncho Pontiacs.
Those Eelco's just don't look to have the same frontal shape and rake.
Thanks guys!!

I just can't really see that picture "good enough" to see the length and such. I'll take your word for it!

Here's a Cal Custom 10-10: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CAL-CUS ... Tp&vxp=mtr
(Looks about right!)
The Pontiac Super Duty/Ford HD truck scoop: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PONTIAC-SUPER-D ... ~o&vxp=mtr
(Looks too low and wide, IMHO)
... and what I think they might actually be, given the Offenhauser relationship with Mopar in those days: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OFFENHA ... BI&vxp=mtr
(Looks very similar to the Cal Custom, and right proportions)

The Offe one looks cool except the bolt flanges are on outside. Fits allot of vehicles
Think originals are steel, I saw a NOS one on ebay

Re: Hood scoops on '71 auto show concept Swepty
Jim, you may be right! Am doing more research and given the angle and the lighting, the Dart scoops may just be what was used.
How about the wheels, anyone have any idea what those might have been?
Am guessing, given the lower core support, this would have been a 383-equipped, A/C truck, as well...
If anyone comes across any more info, please share!
Thanks,
Walt

I think that these 1969 wheels look like the ones on the truck. They were originally all recalled. I found the image on for "A Bodies" only. Scroll the whole page as there are several pics of them. OR GOOGLE 1969 rare Recalled Wheels

Another possibility is the factory issued hood scoops used on the 69 "Cuda 340" and "Cuda 383".

Personally, I'm kind of fond of the old Ramcharger scoops.
I might end up putting one of these on my Utiline.
