new box power steering
Re: new box power steering
No one is going to make them. It's up to you to go to a machine shop and have your own made or do it like I did with hand tools. I am skeptic about even posting the drawing. If something is not correct and you loose steering no one wants to be responsible. I posted the drawing as an example and its up to each person to be sure it fits their truck and is made correctly.

That's the way I feel. The drawings are there for a suggestion only. What one does with them is entirely up to them. One has to be responsible for their own misfortune if done incorrectly and without thought.

Re: new box power steering
Just read through this thread. Excellent job Kurt. Needs to go in the tech. section for sure.
Re: new box power steering
So the answer is a resounding NO?
I did read through the post, my problem is that I don't have the skills nor the equipment to manufacture the mounting plate. It's unfortunate that this country has come to the point where people are sue crazy, making most scared to do anything anymore.
Example; Kids wanting to earn money mowing lawns can't because the homeowner is scared that they'll be injured and get sued.

Re: new box power steering
Thanks Kurt for picking up were I could not, health issues. You did a wonderful job keeping this thread going far further than I could ever imangen. My hope this box would help out, it is to bad with the legal issues no no can make a bracket unless you have a large line that could support the insurance a person would need.

Thanks, ED. It was a fun project and actually really easy. My initial thought was I would just have a shop run off 10-20 of these plates and sell them at cost. But who knows what could come back in support requests or claims against me the rest of my life. I saw the company pro tech that made the ford coversions stopped for some reason.

Kirk,
It is a real shame in todays world we have to be so paranoid. Like you I have lots of ideas but not worth it unless you can afford the insurance.

Re: new box power steering
Couldn't one use a liability clause stating that the user assumes all risk. Also one could state that this product is suitable for offroad use only, even though it is intended for street use.
Re: new box power steering
You'd think there would be a way..... but in today's litigious society, some slimy lawyer wouldsoopernaut wrote:Couldn't one use a liability clause stating that the user assumes all risk. find a way to pin the blame on the mfg.. You couldn't have a big enough "boiler plate" on the back
of the sales order / invoice. The lawyers would twist all the mfg's "anus protectus" information to their
client's advantage.... somehow...

Re: new box power steering
Make it and call it a "hot plate".....use at your own risk.

Re: new box power steering
FYI to all, having been in the cop business all my life I have made a few friends who are attorneys. One specializes as in product liability. He is also a car collector and he and I had a conversation on this today. He say that there are no liability on the plate mfg. or seller at all. Kinda like a county fair ride, do it at your own risk, anyone can sue anyone anyway but just his opinion. Oh by the way I would take one also.

Re: new box power steering
Couldn't you craft them and sell them to us as a replica for art work only? So it isn't even intended for use but....
Re: new box power steering
Sounds like alot of us would like to have one or two. Besides it's not a complete kit, just a piece of steel.
Re: new box power steering
I have been kind of quiet. In the background member Fugowwee had some conversations with CPP where they indicated the Dodges of our era on on the radar. Tonight they contacted me for more information. I will call them hopefully tomorrow. They could easily source a bolt in kit for Dodges. They just haven't looked at one so weren't yet aware.
