Looks Good.......But!
I love the fact that it's together and clean, and looks great, just wish the machine shop would have called before they painted it! I know it's not politically correct for the 318 Poly but the color scheme of the truck is going to be black and orange, so the block should have been orange. I'm sure it will be, as soon as I'm mobile enough to get back into the garage!

You'll need a valve cover decal now.

Further details will have to be determined later.... I honestly don't know yet what I'm going to do?
I still have the original cast intake, but have thought about going with a nice new aluminum one, but???
I'm not building a hot rod, or a show piece, I just want to be able to drive the truck, maybe even everyday, and I want a nice reliable machine that goes, doesn't have to go fast, and it doesn't need to sparkle going, I just want it out of the garage and in the SUN!!!
Have lots of work to do, tons of decisisons to make, and not a lot of time or money to help!!!
(anybody else have that problem)
Na, didn't think so!

Howdy, I have a 61 Dart truck as well and a 62 Dart sedan both were original with the polyhead . These motors were still called the Red Ram by Dodge in 61, 62 & 63.....Just thought I'd share that with you with the hope that you might leave the poly Red ! I have seen some of the poly red rams that had a silver painted block with red valve covers which is kinda neat also....

Re: Looks Good.......But!
I hear ya on the red, it just doesn't go with the "plan" I have for the truck. My end results are to have the truck a two tone black and orange paint job, goes along with me being a SF Giants fan, and riding a Harley!moporridge wrote:Howdy, I have a 61 Dart truck as well and a 62 Dart sedan both were original with the polyhead . So having the block red just doesn't do it for me, unfortunatly! not to mention the fact that the origianal aspect of the Ute went out the window already, as I am putiing a Poly in instead of rebuilding the /6.
8 cylinders are a must for me, and I don't want to be doing this more than once, I've repainted the block already, and am currently working on all the other "parts". Valve covers, oil pan, timing cover, just slow going right now, because, as usual, something has to get in the way!
Got a good friend who is in trouble right now, split up with his girl, nowhere to live, blah, blah, blah. So, as usual, I'm the nice guy that ofers up the garage to store his junk, and get in my way!!
Oh well, hopefully I can squeeze in the garage and get some more work done soon! The itch is getting to be unbearable!!!
