Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....
OK, my turn, just bought this today. I have to haul it home. custom be3d, which the owner is keeping. Its been extended to 12 feet. I am not sure what I am going to do with it, either a resto hot rod hauler or maybe use the body on a 96 dodge diesel truck and make a crew cab sweptline driver.

Ok, where is Hubbard Oregon, any chance its the East side? I REALLY need to see these trucks, are they all done? any pics. I have soo many projects in my head and ran out of talent long ago. I am a muscle car guy and want to build a 4x4 cummins 71 crew cab. I have a 96 ex cab cummins and a 71 crew cab that was cut an dmade into a 12 ft flatbed.
Is it easier to use the 86 cummins and fab a bed (I have an extra short bed) on to it with the crew cab or use the running gear on the swepty frame and truck?

Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....
Unfortunately Hubbard is on the west side, just south of Portland... My truck is done- I drive it 80 miles a day 5 days a week with no problems whatsoever. As far as your truck, I'm uncertain as to how that frame would work- mine is on the earlier 1990 frame that I stretched 29", but I think your '96 club cab long bed frame ought to be just about the perfect length for a crew short bed. The only thing I'm uncertain of is how the frame compares to the original sweptline frame as far as frame elevations. With some head scratching, a tape measure and a notebook and pen I'd imagine it could be worked out- thats how mine came to fruition when I first put my frame together by myself at age 19 . You might ask Andrew (slick) for his 2 cents- he had a wrecked '96 extra cab long bed 4x4 chassis that he wanted to put his blue '64 crew cab on a few years back. I know we discussed it and he inevitabely decided to not go through with the project due to the intercooler potentially making things a difficult fit. I don't know if he compared frames though...

Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....
Here is my Crew right when I got it home about a year ago. I drove it about 30 miles up a curvy highway in gold country CA. It did pretty well for having a 1/4 turn slop in the steering and I had to have my wife drive in front due to the exahust fumes. Everything in it was original and worked down to the horn.
Since then I have been doing a frame off resto mod. The frame and suspension is completed and has a 360MPI with the A518 trans installed as well as disc brakes. I will add power steering and a 30 gallon gas tank. Eveything else will remain as original as I can except maybe the seats.
The cab required all the normal rust repair like all new floors, rockers and steps along with lots of POR15.
I get to paint it again now. I had issues with paint atomization on the turqoise, the white is OK. I painted lots of cars in the past that were perfectly acceptable using name brand paints. I got some cheap single stage urethane and should have practiced with it. The tech sheet said not to reduce which I thought was odd. It needs it. At least this will give me the chance to fill the original gas filler hole now that I decided to put a tank in the back. That seems to be the only option with the crew.

The multi coloured is a 64 with 71 front clip and box. Bought a 68 hood for it. The rear is a 69, really should sell it
Re: Post up a picture of your Crew Cab....
Here's a picture of a future Cummins project. I have a 89 4x4 donor truck for it. Currently she runs and drives and is happy taking the Golden Retrievers to the creek for a weekly swim. Will get around to the swap after a couple of other projects are finished.

Perkins64, I love those 300s!
wayneswirld2, seen it before, but never get tired of it.
If I had a crew, it would have to be a ute. I just can't quite handle the wavey look of the body lines with the swept bed. I'd have to find a way the smooth out that line through the doors into the bed...No easy feat!

Nice crew cab. I saw that truck in Ronan, MT about 6 years ago where the previous owner bought it and the wrecking yard.

Powerman,
Funny thing is...I grew up and went to school in Ronan. I found this truck while I was living in TN and had is shipped to me.
Spent most of my life in the Ronan and Polson area and never saw this truck ever.
