i agree, some of the stuff they do turns out pretty cool. alot of it is hacked and a chevy engine is their answer to everything. why not a crate 360 or 5.7 hemi? i don't have anything against chevy but put it in a chevy. a dodge should have a dodge a ford a ford and so on. i won't look at half the old hotrods at car shows because of chevy engines. it makes me want to puke. think outside the box a little.

They were mean to this poor 64 swepty from the beginning using terms such as "ugly", "dodges are easy to miss", "no one cares about dodges", why didn't they try to use the engine that was in the truck, or why didn't they use a 5.7 hemi, there are many other options for front suspension besides a crown vic, I think the bearded guy on the show likes to complicate things just to showcase his talents. I must admit i liked the show up to this point and was excited to watch up until I saw what they were up to with this poor truck, i have a different opinion now, :2cents I don't think i will watch anymore!

there was nothing good to say about the Dodge the entire time. You put a ford front axle and a chevy engine in a Dodge truck, come on now, Mopar's don't like subpar equipment installed. I liked the show up til this point was disappointed last night. I'm going to watch it next Monday just to see how it turns out but I realize now, I can't recall any Mopar's on the show prior to this episode, I guess those guys just don't know a good thing when they see it. - Kyle

I really don't get all the mopar purist bs. its been discussed using a crown Vic sub on this very site and that seemed ok a mustang 2 clip is raved about around here and that's ford based too. If your a business and your swapping motors you do gm's because there cheep plentifull and you can get aftermarket everything for them

Do I like the wheel & tire package they chose No
Would I swap in an ls Probably not
Would I god for bid use ford parts on my truck most likely for a front suspension
Clear over my petina. Na I like mine the way it is

They corrected some one else's *#%^ job notching the frame. trued it front to back. swaped an ifs clip in modified every thing to gain the proper suspension geometry. Put in a modern reliable drive train

I just don't see what's so hack ?

They did nothing but b-itch about the fact it was a Dodge. Then, in the same breath, brag about how they would get some sucker to buy their conglomeration of parts for $20K! Just plain BS, is all these guys are about.

I don't think anyone is really griping about it not being an all-Mopar build, but it would have been very easy to make it so. As it sits, it's a bastard truck needing paint (like I said earlier, watch them clearcoat this!!!) and they pi$$ and moan about it being a Dodge truck.

I'm not at all impressed with their "mad skillzzzzzz"...

i think we all need to buy some old chevys and put in 318's or 360's. last time i checked 318's and 360's are pretty cheap. ha ha the chevy guys would have fits. like i said i don't have anything against chevies but enough already.

ive just noticed that every thing i buy fir my 383 is special order and twice the cost of small block chevy stuff

if you took your truck to a shop and had them supply and install an ifs front end with rack and pinion and a modern drive train and give it a good once over on every thing else what would you expect it to cost ?

every ones calling them hacks but no one can point outany thing there doing that is hack other than disagreeing with there cosmetic treatment

I feel like Richard Rawlings has a hard on for Mopar Fans. Like somebody else said, all they did was complain about working on a Dodge. I watched them remove leaf springs and a straight front axle when I saw it on DVR. I think they yanked a poly engine out. I would have paid 750 just to keep it out of their hands! I went on their Facebook page to let them know how I feel.

Hey, SF, if you want to join the "me-too!" Chevy guys, go for it. I never seem to have problems obtaining small or big-block Chrysler stuff, and I'm not paying very much more for any given part than a Chevy guy does. My 440 cost maybe 25% more than a 350 I did a while back...certainly not double.

Have you ever watched episodes of this show??? They are all about the hack job! Many times, they overpay for whatever POS they find, and because of the fake "deadline" they set up to get it to auction, they are always taking the shortcut to get done "in time".

Maybe these guys are out of their GM comfort zone.... :thinking You'd think they'd
want to learn something new and re-work that Poly. :Thumbsup It would be interesting
to hear their reply to your Facebook post. :dance Does anyone have a short box C10
they can trade them? :thinking :joker

OK, Gotta say I was excited to see what they would do to the 64 when the episode was advertised. I don't agree with everything they did but the Crown Vic is a nice IFS option. The SBC is crap though, I just don't like it when you cross breed things like that. I think you stay true to your brand when it comes to power/drive train. For years the hot rodders have been putting any SBC in a bucket T or 32 just cause it was cheap and easy. I joke with my bowtie friends and ask them when they go to Wal-Mart are they shopping for parts for their SBC?? I think they are in it to make $$$ and that is what it's about. If you know what you are doing with a Mopar you can make money but for most of us Mopar guys we are into Mopars because of a passion not a financial gain. Now if they would have been true to what the truck is they would have used the 318 Poly, an expensive motor to build up! Allot of guys on the board dump their Poly motors and replace them with LA motors. Why? $$$$$ Same reason A$$ Monkeys did it. All in all if you look at it they are doing stuff that sells. People like what they do and they pay, partly because they are on TV. Like it or not they are famous and we are not. They make $$$ off their car builds and most of us don't. Not saying we are better or they are but I know I have fun doing what I do and I sleep well. Oh well back to work for me!
On a good note though, how many people are going to see this episode and decide that our old Swepties are pretty cool? Watch the price go up!

like i said an ls swap not for me not for my dodge. but in my little corner of the world this stuff seems to be pretty rare and no one keeps any of it instock i would agree that any thing i have ordered is probably 25ish % more not double

im realy looking at a crown vic vs mustang II vs a truck clip and keeping my 8lug right now

and the rim and tire pacage is just wrong in my opinion

i just cant jump on the there hacks band wagon. the work that they are doing seems decent enough ijust dont agree with there style

i thought the crown vic suspension was ok. personally kinda like the straight front axle. kind of thought the truck would of looked cool set up like a old gasser. 360 small block. the chevy stuff is just way overrated and over done. oh well not my truck let them do what they want. hopefully they will do some more mopar stuff. maybe the count will do a sweptline in the future.

Here ya go.....
http://pub31.bravenet.com/photocenter/a ... /5/144594/
Might not be too difficult to stay "Dodge" doing what Mark did.
Most all of the LifeStyle Era D100s / D200s could be used. :thinking
I'd imagine they're plentiful in just about any region?.... Food for thought
anyhow....

A Charger/300 front suspension measures pretty close on a Swepty, from what I have heard, plus the rear axle assembly is close, too, if a builder were insistent on an all-Mopar modded Swepty truck. Go with a 6.1L Hemi. Had they thought outside the Chevy box, then the build would actually be pretty cool. The way it sits - not so much.
