WHats the best way to replace floors. I need my whole front floor replaced from door to door in the front of my crew cab. Does anyone have any tips or secrets to replacing them... I have a complete floor ready to go in it. I just have no plan of attack.

Re: Floors
Oh wow the entire floor? I did the trunk floor on my Fury but not the same at all. All the support for the cab is on the floors. Allot of the guys have taken the cab off to do extensive patching. Maybe supporting the cab on stands or some other way so you get the correct height. I supported my Fury towards the rear support to maintain the correct height. So you have the entire floor already?

Do you own a copy of Jim MeGee's Sweptline Restoration CD? JimRossJ wrote:WHats the best way to replace floors. I need my whole front floor replaced from door to door in the front of my crew cab. went through much of what you're dealing with and has a great
pictorial guide to offer. You might want to check it out if you
don't have it yet.

Re: Floors
Thanks for mentioning that John...
If you want a peek, click on the little globe under my avatar.
Your floor... do actually mean the ENTIRE floor? My CD shows only the "pans" where your feet go. That would be some job! But, nothing is impossible I suppose

Re: Floors
Well the floors are rusted so bad that they ruined the shape of the doghouse, so i just cut floors out of a single cab that i had, and i put work into them so they can be a replacement floor.

Re: Floors
I had a bunch of guys say to me; why not just buy two more doors. But, here in NJ... where am I going to do that? FIRST and formost, there are no more junk yards around here anymore. I think that steel has all gone to China (but that is another story) So, "IF" I were to get other doors, they surely would have been just as bad if they were bought local. OR, IF I had to get them shipped... well, that is another problem with that one. Cha Ching$$RossJ wrote:Ya. theres a lot of work put into those doors. hahahha
Re: Floors
Ya, see i got my crew cab from idaho so it had pretty dang good doors. but i also do have kind stock pile of extra body parts to choose from too haha.
Re: Floors
I'll admit that I've never done a crew can floor before so take my advice with a grain of salt.
With that said, I'm in a similar boat; the entire floor of my '66 needs to be replaced. I plan on first having the entire thing soda blasted then will cross bracing internally. From there I hope to drill out all the spot welds then start removing the trashed floor in big pieces. I'd like to make the new floor out of atleast 18ga. and strengthen it with some rolled beads.
