Frame....

Post by xCOYOTEx »

Ok, I am picking up a complete frame with motor, tranny, rearend, basically a roller with a bed, but no cab. I am gonna use some of the parts for my other truck, and sell/trade the rest when I see what all I need. But for my curiosity, is the 2wd frame the same as a 4wd??? Because I am seriously thinking of building my own Power Wagon if the frames are the same. Thanks!!!

On a 100/200 series frame[long wheel base].... they were the same from '61-early '65 & mid '65-'68. From '69-'71 they
changed with regards to the bell housing cross member. To install 200 series springs on the 100 series... I've read that
you have to drill out the shackle holes slightly. :study I'm sure others will add to this information :Thumbsup

The 69-71 D's can be changed to W's.
My 71 was by a previous owner. I am still trying to sort it all out though. :thinking

The W100 was shortbed only til somewhere around 69-71. D100 was available in both wheelbases. W200 was longbed only, but used same axles as W100 til 69.

The frame is a 68 or 69, not sure yet. But it is a long bed. I will be probably taking a long time to put this together, as funds are low, and I am still trying to get my utiline together. But it will be a beast when I get it done, for sure. And will be nice and clean the first time it hits some trails, frame will be sandblasted and all that good stuff. But wanted to be sure i was not wasting my time, still learning about these trucks!!!

A few of the 100 frames are a lighter gauge material than others. Not all of them but you can tell the difference by looking closely at them.
