I'm getting frustrated and could use your help. I'm converting my 318LA to a rear sump pan to install a QA1 (Gerst) front suspension being delivered Friday. I ordered and received the pan and pickup but realized when I went to install it that I need (an oil pump gasket to install the pickup) the longer rear sump dipstick and tube. I'm pretty sure it gets installed in a different location on the block. I can't find any procedure information for changing the dipstick location or even a part number to order the longer dipstick and tube. Help!

You might ask on the "forabodiesonly" website in the small block forum

On certain big block truck engines the dipstick tube came off the side of the oil pan, via a 90 degree fitting.
Maybe your 318 needs a similar set-up.

I am putting in an ‘85 318 in my truck and got a rear sump pan. Engine was from a car that had a middle sump pan. Dipstick is in the same location. Just need a longer dipstick. Still haven’t found one that’s the correct length.

Ok, I've learned that the dipstick location stays the same at the front of the block. The rear sump pan has a housing extension built in to guide the longer stick to the rear sump. I will attach of pic of the pan I purchased made by Dorman part #264-210, suggested by QA1. They also recommended a Milodon pan.
A guy on forabodiesonly gave measurements of his truck stick which I will also attach.
I found a rear sump dipstick listed on Mancini Racing for big blocks but they want $75. I think I'm going to hit the local pick your own part and see if I can find a van or truck dipstick.

think summit racing has a cable type stick that you can cut to size
