Accelerator Pedal Won't Fully Release

Ok. I have a 67 D100. The old accelerator pedal broke off and I have a new one that won't return all the way due to a little nub on the back of the pedal. The accelerator rod hits this nub and stops there. I can easily pull it up the rest of the way with my hand or foot but I'm wondering what the stock setup looks like. Does the stock pedal have that stupid nub on the back? Is there some kind of "track" that let's the pedal run freely all the way from full throttle to idle?

I tried to include a pic but the site says the image is too large and doesn't say what the limit is. I already cropped it twice.

Thoughts?

The stock pedal has a flat nylon block inserted on the back that the rod smoothly slides on. Cut the nub off.

Done. It sounds like I should look for a nylon or other similar material to glue onto the back of the pedal eh?

What's on the back of the pedal you had that broke? Or did it already get tossed?

My memory is foggy but I don't recall ever seeing a pedal on it.

Meanwhile I found a strip of metal that I applied to the back of the pedal. So far, so good.
