Heater

Post by TRCox »

Need a little help. I have had my 68 d100 for 3 months and have not had to use the heater. Defrost cable pulls fine. Blower cable turns fine. The H cable does not pull or turn. What gives? Does it pull or turn? What is the function of this knob? Temperature? Thanks

It opens the valve to allow circulation through the heater core.If not working ,most likely corroded shut.

Mine was the same way, the cable should pull to open. I had to take the cable off and use wd40 to losen it up. You can open the cover on the front of your heater box and pull the heater valve open there if your cable is not working. There is only a few screws in the cover to remove.

Mine was really hard to move. I lubed the whole cable and also took off the front cover and sprayed all over the lever and where the cable attaches. Now it moves freely when the truck is off.

Funny thing though, if I have it open (heat on) with the engine running , I can't close it. Like as if the pressure from the water pump is too great to block off. No biggie
